Art Ore Decor

Hi, I’m Kelly Mazzrillo owner of Art Ore Decor. I’m originally from a small town in Massachusetts but now live in Chesapeake, VA.

I’ve always been interested in art, for as long as I can remember. When I was a teenager I always carried a sketch book with me, art was my escape. I went to an art college in Boston and I majored in graphic design and I’ve been in the doing a variety of graphic positions for the past 30 years. I’m currently a multimedia/programmer, designing/developing e Learning courses.

I’m also rockhound, which is partly how I got started in doing my craft. After winning a membership to our local rock club. I was hooked after we went on our first rock hounding field trip. We learned a lot about how to identify rocks and minerals, geology, cutting slabs, making cabochons, and faceting semi-precious stones. Our club sold geodes at the shows and once in a while a buyer didn’t like a geode they purchased once it was cut open, the club would exchange it and the geodes no one wanted I took home, and I started painting on them. Hence the name Art “Ore” Décor was born.

I wanted to experiment on making things that wasn’t just jewelry with incorporating the use of stones, fossils, beads, and rocks in the products I make (mostly using agates). It made my products stand out at shows and makes it something truly unique and special that my customers could enjoy for years to come.
